On Saturday 12th September 2015, The Scout Association held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Baden-Powell House in London. Ashley was asked to start the formal proceedings with a ‘reflection’, setting the tone for the rest of the day.
Ashley’s reflection came straight from his experience as someone who’s life has been changed immeasurably by his involvement in Scouting. It focuses not only the impact on Ashley, but recognises that each member of our movement is impacted differently and that, instead of figures, we need to be focusing on these real people. On the day, his speech was called “incredibly inspiring” and “impactful, insightful”.
This document is, within reason, what he said on the day.
Also, thanks to the power of technology (and the great work of Tony at FluidHD), you can actually watch it as it happened on the day – go to 09:36 for the start of my piece:
